Top 8 AI Landing Page Generators To Quickly Test Startup Ideas
Go from idea to startup landing page faster than ever.
If you're anything like me, you've got a stockpile of ideas, or perhaps even domain names, awaiting their debut.
Which idea to prioritize?
Where to launch it?
What tagline will strike a chord with my target audience?
These are the questions running through the minds of founders trying to figure out and build things people want.
The search term for “AI Website” grew dramatically at the start of 2023.
Collectively, the platforms highlighted in this post have generated over 7 million AI-generated websites. AI landing page generators is a game changer that allows us to evaluate numerous ideas simultaneously, delve into varied iterations of a single concept, and even create region-specific versions with ease.
While a landing page isn't the silver bullet for finding product-market fit, it's invaluable as a conversation starter. It's that initial step in introducing your idea to potential users, whether that's amassing a waiting list, arranging consultations, or snagging those first few subscribers.
I wanted to see what is the quickest, cleanest, and no-cost way to spin up a reasonable-looking landing page on a custom domain name. As an experiment I tested 8 AI website builders with a random idea called, Do You Plank. Do You Plank is a simple application that sends daily reminders to plank. You can record your progress and share it with friends.
Here is a breakdown of my top 7 requirements for creating startup landing pages:
Free Custom Domain - Custom domain hosting needs to be free!
Speed - Less than 15min from the idea to the landing page on a custom domain.
Copy - I don’t want to write the copy from scratch. It should be easy to regenerate and edit.
Components - Full feature set components for a basic landing page: hero section, call to action, waiting list, contact us, feature section, testimonials, FAQs, and pricing.
Images - I don’t want to design any images/screens initially but should be easy to change or upload images later on.
Call to Action - Clear call to action.
Waiting list - I want to capture waiting lists emails that also send the customer a friendly follow-up email to confirm that they are on the waiting list.
To find AI landing page generators I looked at the top search results on Google and ProductHunt using the search term AI website builders/generators. I tested 15 different tools including a couple of non-AI no-code website builders such as Wix, Cardd, and Popsy. In this post, I highlight the top 8 options in the market that best fit my requirements above.
Stay till the end for a quick snapshot of my findings and my top recommendation. I hope that you find this review useful.
LampBuilder
✅ Free Custom Domain - LampBuilder is the only AI landing page generator that offers free custom domain hosting.
✅ Speed - It takes a couple of seconds to spin up the site and preview. Being able to edit directly on the page is a big time saver.
✅ Copy - Good copy generated on the first try. I made slight edits here and there.
✅ Components - Basic selection of components including hero section, call-to-action, and features section with icons. Testimonials, FAQ and contact us are not currently supported.
✅ Images - Supports custom image uploading, illustration stock images, and AI image generation.
✅ Call to Action - The call to action button is automatically added. It is easy to add a link such as a
✅ Waiting list - Built-in waitlist feature.
📃 Summary - LampBuilder is a basic landing page generator in its current form, but it covers everything I need to help me test startup ideas even if I need to work around the waiting list feature. Two things stand out: 1) It is great that custom domain hosting is free which is one of the major blockers for spinning up multiple sites on the other platforms and 2) on-page-edit makes it very easy to edit and publish a page.
Mixo
❌ Free Custom Domain - It is free to preview an AI-generated site, but you have to register and subscribe to edit and host the site for $9/month. Mixo uses a third party to authenticate with popular DNS providers which is really convenient to set up custom hosting. Unfortunately, there was an error in my configuration and my site never went live.
✅ Speed - It is easy and fast to get the initial preview.
✅ Copy - The copy was generated by AI and is quite accurate on the first try. Only minor edits were required.
✅ Components - Full selection of components including hero section, features, testimonials, waiting list, call to action, FAQ, contact us, etc.
✅ Images - Images were added by the AI and it was quite accurate on the first try. It was also easy to pick new images from stock image options.
✅ Call to Action - The call to action was automatically added as a waiting list input form.
✅ Waiting list - Waiting list email capturing supported.
📃 Summary - Mixo performed really well on my expectations. It generated a high-quality-looking site including a couple of bonus features like adding a logo, and rating component. The only downside is the cost associated with hosting custom domains.
60sec
❌ Free Custom Domain - It is free to generate and preview your AI-generated site and free to use with a 60sec-branded domain. It costs $10/month for a custom domain name.
✅ Speed - It is easy and fast to get the initial preview.
✅ Copy - The copy was generated by AI and is quite accurate on the first try.
✅ Components - Supports core set of critical components including header, features, waiting list, call to action, and FAQ. Testimonials and contact us are not supported.
❌ Images - No images or icons were created or added. It also does not seem possible to upload custom images.
✅ Call to Action - The call to action was automatically added as a waiting list input form.
✅ Waiting list - Waiting list email capturing is not supported.
📃 Summary - 60Sec is easy to use. The site looks clean and will serve the core purpose. It is unfortunate that now image features are not supported unless you upgrade to the Advanced plan of $15/month. A bonus feature is the pricing page that is linked to activating a subscription via Stripe, Gumroad, or Lemonsqueezy.
Lindo AI
❌ Free Custom Domain - It is free to generate and preview your AI-generated site and free to use with a Lindo-branded domain. However, it costs $7/month for a custom domain.
✅ Speed - It is easy and fast to get the initial preview.
✅ Copy - The copy was quite accurate on the first try.
✅ Components - Full selection of components including hero section, features, testimonials, waiting list, call to action, FAQ, contact us, etc. Modern look and feel.
✅ Images - Given the template I chose the initial images were not reflective of the content on the site. However, the edit features are really good. It is possible to choose from open-source stock images as well as join a waiting list to generate images from popular text-to-image AI models including Midjourney, Dall E, and Stable Diffusion.
✅ Call to Action - The call-to-action where automatically added as a waiting list input form.
❌ Waiting list - Waiting list email capturing is not supported, but a work around to add a Tally form as the call to action will be fine.
📃 Summary - Lindo creates a very modern-looking website. I was able to find perfect images to illustrate my startup concept clearly. Lindo also supports a basic metric page. Interestingly they have a $40 package that includes things like Twitter and LinkedIn posts to help with concept/startup idea validation. It is also possible to upload your own logo.
Durable
❌ Free Custom Domain - It is cool that you get a 30-day free trial, but ultimately it costs $15/month to continue using the custom domain name.
✅ Speed - It took a bit longer than expected to get everything ready, but still very reasonable.
✅ Copy - Reasonable copy generated on the first try, even though it is not possible to input a description for your site. It is easy to edit with an on-page pop-up and sidebar.
✅ Components - Full selection of components including hero section, call-to-action, features, testimonials, FAQ, contact us, etc.
✅ Images - It is easy to search and select stock images directly from Durable, including Shutterstock and Unsplash.
⏳ Call to Action - I was not able to easily add a call action in time but might have missed the config.
✅ Waiting list - Ideally I wanted to add the waiting list form as a call to action, but it is an ok start.
📃 Summary - Durable performs really well on most of the requirements. Unfortunately, Durable does not meet my main requirement to get free custom domain hosting. Being that it is focused on services businesses and not specifically startups, it may not be the best stop for validating startup ideas. It is great that you can see a preview before having to register or subscribe. Durable offers a streamlined domain configuration via Entri, even allowing domain purchases within the platform. Its design tools ensure responsive displays across web and mobile screens, with the ability to add more pages as needed. Users can adjust and regenerate sections effortlessly. Catering to service-based businesses, Durable provides an integrated CRM, invoicing, and robust analytics.
Butternut AI
❌ Free Custom Domain - It is free to generate sites, but custom domain hosting is $20/month.
❌ Speed - It only took 9 min 54 seconds to generate and edit the site, but unfortunately custom domain hosting is not yet automated. I had to manually follow up on an email to follow the steps. Waiting the extra 24 or 48 hours to get everything set up does not meet my requirements.
✅ Copy - The copy was quite comprehensive. I ended up simplifying it a lot, especially in the feature section. It is easy to edit with an on-page pop-up.
✅ Components - Full selection of components including header, call-to-action, features, testimonials, FAQ, contact us, etc.
✅ Images - The images are reasonably accurate on a couple of regenerations. It is possible to upload a custom image.
❌ Call to Action - I was not able to easily add a call of action in the main hero section.
✅ Waiting list - I am using the contact us as a waiting list form at the bottom of the page. Ideally, I wanted to add the waiting list form as a call to action, but it is an ok start.
📃 Summary - Butternut has a really good collection of components. Unfortunately, it does not yet support a self-help flow to set up a custom domain at this time. You have to reach out to their support to get the next steps. Butternut seems to be focusing on small-medium businesses and might not be the best fit for specifically testing startup ideas.
10 Web
❌ Free Custom Domain - It is free to generate and preview a site and costs a minimum of $10/month after a 7-day trial.
✅ Speed - It was quick and easy to generate the site to preview, but I got stuck when asked to log in with my WordPress admin credentials.
✅ Copy - The copy was reasonably good. In order to edit you have to flip between the edit form and the site.
✅ Components - A full range of components. As part of the onboarding, you can select a suitable template, color scheme, and font. This can be useful but would be nice if it was all generated with AI.
✅ Images - Images were automatically added to the site.
✅ Call to Action - I could see a call to action on the preview but was not able to confirm how much it could be configured.
⏳ Waiting list - I was not able to confirm whether 10 Web supported a waiting list feature.
📃 Summary - 10web is an AI website generator on top of WordPress. If you are already comfortable with WordPress as a framework this may be a really good option for you. Given that I don’t have WordPress admin credentials I was not able to edit my AI-generated site.
Hostinger
❌ Free Custom Domain - It is free to preview an AI-generated site, but you have to subscribe to either get a Hostinger branded link or set up a custom domain for $2.99/month.
✅ Speed - It is easy to get the initial preview. It is useful that you can easily choose from 3 templates, fonts, and colors.
✅ Copy - The copy was generated by AI, but required some additional editing as it did not get the context right on the first try.
✅ Components - Full selection of components including header, features, testimonials, FAQ, contact us, etc.
✅ Images - Images were added by the AI, but it was not very accurate. It is possible to search and add images from a stock image library.
❌ Call to Action - I was not able to easily add a call action in the main header section.
✅ Waiting list - I am using the contact us as a waiting list form at the bottom of the page.
📃 Summary - Hostinger covered most of the requirements and is reasonably affordable compared to the other options. Hostinger seems to specialize as a managed WordPress hosting provider. Hostinger includes a range of additional features that may be useful in the future.
Conclusion
LampBuilder suits my requirements best. It is startup focused and offers free custom domain hosting, which is great if you are looking to test multiple startup ideas at the same time.
If you are prioritizing aesthetics and a modern look, both Lindo and Mixo offer visually appealing sites, albeit at a monthly cost. While they come with a price tag, the quality of the sites they produce might justify the investment for certain projects.
As someone who doesn't use WordPress, both Hostinger and 10Web aren't a fit for my requirements, but they do offer a lot of the features. Durable's comprehensive features were indeed impressive, but its orientation towards service and SME businesses makes it less ideal for startup idea validation, similar to Butternut.
Great content here, Helghardt. As a person of color, I’d love to see more stock images representing the wonderful spectrum of diversity in our humanity. Otherwise, well done and kudos.
